Omega is quiet on the first Monday after Snow White’s execution. He keeps to himself mostly, patrolling dutifully, keeping to his thoughts to himself.

It’s after the sun goes down that he decides to act on those thoughts, sliding a poorly scrawled note under Ferdinand’s door. The writing is barely legible, but it reads: “MEET ME AT THE ARENA.”

It’s there that he waits for his friend, staring up at the moon, nervousness and guilt weighing on his mechanical heart.

[He reaches out, grabbing his steel arms, though there's no way he could force Omega to do anything with his pure strength]

If... if something happens once the weapon is done, we shall see. I could not ask you to stay your hand when someone is literally on the block.

[ Omega nods, and tries to stand, only for one of his legs to buckle beneath him and for him to fall to one knee. ]

ARGH! THESE BLASTED SERVOS! I HAVE NEGLECTED MAINTENANCE IN FAVOR OF THE WEAPON…AND WHAT’S MORE, I AM EXPERIENCING ERRORS FROM BEING ONLINE TOO LONG…

[ Omega nods his whole upper body, looking as guilty as he can manage. ]

YES...IT IS NECESSARY TO KEEP MY SYSTEM ERROR FREE. BUT THE WEAPON, KEEPING UP THIS CHARADE...IT HAS REQUIRED ME TO STAY VIGILANT!

[He moves to his side- he of course can not carry Omega, he's much too heavy. But with his crest improved strength he can at least bring some weight off his leg until it's fit passes]

YES, I WOULD BE A SITTING DUCK FOR A KILLER. AND EVEN IF I DID NOT DIE, I WOULD MISS THE TRIAL.

[ He allows Ferdinand to support him, and lets out a mechanical sigh. ]

I WOULD BE LOST WITHOUT YOU, FERDINAND. I TRULY MEAN THAT. THANK YOU.

You are the one carrying the hardest part of this Omega. And for that I must thank you, as well.

[It says something about Ferdinand that dying is the easy part- it's facing the others that is the real trial]

ARE YOU CERTAIN THIS IS THE ONLY WAY?

[ As he says that, his leg ceases his fit, and he steps away, able to stand on his own. ]

WE CAN WAIT FOR ANOTHER CHANCE…WE COULD PERHAPS TRY TO FIND A WAY THROUGH THE BARRIER!

[ Even as he says it, he knows that it’s fruitless. He has studied the barrier since this all began, and he has come no closer to finding a way through than the day he started. ]

[ Omega raises his hands and looks at his claws. ]

I WANT TO FIND MY CREATOR AND FORCE HIM TO ACKNOWLEDGE ME! I WANT HIM TO ACTUALLY BE A FATHER! I WANT A RELATIONSHIP WITH MY SIBLINGS! I WANT TO CREATE SOMETHING OF MY OWN! I WANT TO SEE SHADOW AND ROUGE AGAIN AND SHOW THEM WHAT I HAVE MADE MYSELF INTO!

[ His shoulders sag, and he looks directly at Ferdinand. ]

[He almost calls it off right there- not just because of Omega's distress, but because his thoughts are Ferdinand's own. He wants to fucking live. To go to the stars and find something other then this broken world or the one he left behind.

But they can't, for the exact reason Omega states. Because someone else will die.

(and unknown to them many would. tiny broken corpses litter the future. is this the red path hubert spoke so much of? how could have ever wanted to join him on it?)

[ Omega straightens, and stands with resolve and newfound assurance.

This will have to be enough. ]
